Golden Harvest
Autumn in a Bottle:
the story of Golden Harvest
Imagine the sun setting on an autumn evening, creating a glow of golden light over the hills of the North Downs while dappled light streams through the Oak and Lime trees. The scent of freshly cut wheat fills the air and your journey ends in a vineyard where the last of the evening sun sets over the valley. The vines are laden with plump, ripe grapes ready to be pressed, preserved and bottled, but for now a flute filled with a cool, crisp previous vintage of English sparkling wine awaits you.
When we created our Golden Harvest collection we wanted to capture this moment – a moment of fullness and calm evoked by John Keats’ ‘season of mists and mellow fruitfulness’.

Tale of Three Grapes
One of the most powerful antioxidants in the plant world, Grapes are known for promoting clean, bright, healthy skin. We’ve sourced a trio of Grapes – Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay – from Wine Estates on Kent’s North Downs to create the exclusive extract for our Golden Harvest collection.
Secrets of the Land and Climate
Located in one of the sunniest corners of the British Isles, the vines are grown in sloping vineyards that face due south, with the lime-rich chalk soil part of the same chalk ridge that starts in southern England and stretches across to Burgundy in France via the French Champagne region. This unique terroir gives British sparkling wine an exceptional quality and flavour.

Golden Harvest from Kent

Golden Harvest was inspired by a memorable and moving road trip to the Royal County of Kent, also known as the “Garden of England”. It was late afternoon in autumn, John Keat’s “season of mists and mellow fruitfulness”. The sun was beginning to set over the gently rolling English hills creating the most glorious golden light. This dappled, honeyed light, shone through the ancient Oak and Lime trees as I drove down a winding country lane. It was harvest time and the air was thick with the scent of wheat fields freshly cut, fruits filled with “ripeness to the core” and newly turned earth from the ‘half-reap’d furrow”. My senses took in the green and golden hues, the deliciously fresh and airy scents mixed with mossy, earthy aromas.
This magical journey ended at a vineyard where the last of the evening sun was setting over the valley, whose slopes were lined with row after row of lush green vines. The vines were loaded and blessed with plump, ripe grapes, full of sweet, concentrated juice. The landscape, light and aromas were intoxicating.
A glass of chilled English Fizz served in a fine crystal flute was the culmination of this inspiring journey and a memory was carved for years to come of that perfect autumn day.
English Grapes – Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. Grapes are one of the most powerful anti-oxidant in the plant world, helping to promote clean, bright healthy skin. Selfheal is a herb found in Britain and has a long history of medicinal use, and traditionally the leaves are applied to skin to promote healing and rehydration.

Noble Isle sources three grape varieties, Chardonnay, Pino Meunier and Pinot Noir from Canterbury vines at Simpson’s Wine Estate. Established by a British family, with 15 years of winemaking experience in France, they have brought their savoir-faire back to Britain in order to create wines of great provenance and integrity, firmly rooted in the characteristics and exquisite nuances of ther terroir. The grapes are carefully harvested from vineyards, which occupy glorious positions on the sunny, sheltered slopes of the North Downs of Kent, protected from the whimsy of the English climate by ancient woodland and anchored in the iconic chalky soils so highly revered in the new world of sparkling wine.

GOLDEN HARVEST. THE TALE OF TWO SIBLINGS
We are proud of all of the extract provenance stories behind each of our fragrance collections; they represent relationships between two partners, collaboration, support and the creation of fresh, new ideas.
We thought it would be interesting to delve a little deeper and find out how some of these relationships came to be.
Perhaps the most heart-warming and unique of our provenance stories, is that of Golden Harvest, a collaboration between our Founder, Katy Simpson and her brother and his wife, Charles & Ruth Simpson, Founders of Simpsons Wine Estate.
